Senate Approves Health Education for Secondary Schools

In a landmark move, the Senate of Pakistan has passed legislation mandating comprehensive reproductive health education in secondary schools across the country. The law requires students aged 14 and above to receive structured instruction that addresses physical, mental, and social well-being.

A key feature of the bill is the requirement for schools to obtain written parental consent before providing reproductive health education, ensuring family involvement in students’ learning. The legislation also directs educational authorities to develop age-appropriate content and integrate it into official textbooks and curricula.
