On World Children’s Day, Prime Minister (PM) Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to safeguarding the rights, welfare, and education of every child. Speaking on this year’s theme, “My Day, My Rights,” he emphasized that the nation’s future is closely tied to the well-being of its youngest citizens.
“The mental and physical growth, safety, and quality education of our children are the foundational pillars of their rights,” the Prime Minister said, calling for a national strategy to uphold these rights and combat violence against children, describing it as a “critical governmental priority.”
PM Shehbaz highlighted ongoing initiatives, including educational opportunities for talented students, accelerated progress of the Daanish School Project, and nutrition and stipend programs under the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP). He stressed the need for stronger coordination among families, communities, and government bodies to create a nurturing environment for children.
The Prime Minister also pointed out that the government has declared an “educational emergency” to ensure the enrollment of all out-of-school children, alongside efforts to provide modern, technology-driven education. Key aspects of the welfare framework include scholarships, accessible healthcare, and skill development centers.
