The Government of Sindh’s College Education Department has announced the launch of the Bhutto STEM Scholarship for the 2026–27 academic year, creating new opportunities for outstanding students from Sindh to pursue higher education at the University of Oxford’s Lady Margaret Hall.
Introduced in collaboration with the Oxford Pakistan Programme, the initiative aims to strengthen academic prospects in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). The scholarship will support postgraduate studies, including Master’s, MPhil, and PhD/DPhil programmes, with a priority focus on STEM disciplines.
A total of six scholarships will be awarded. Under the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Initiative, three scholarships have been reserved exclusively for female applicants, while the remaining three will be offered on open merit through the Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Initiative. The programme seeks to encourage gender inclusion and academic excellence by ensuring representation of women in advanced research fields.
To qualify, applicants must hold a Sindh CNIC, domicile, and PRC (Form-D), and must meet the academic and English language criteria set by the University of Oxford. Additionally, candidates are required to secure an unconditional admission offer for the 2026–27 session. Applicants receiving financial support from any other scholarship programme will not be eligible.
Applications will be processed through the Oxford Pakistan Programme’s online portal. Only complete submissions will be assessed, and shortlisted candidates may be called for interviews. The selection process will be jointly overseen by the College Education Department and the OPP Scholarship Committee to ensure transparency and merit-based assessment.
