In a major step toward strengthening technical education, the Sindh government has announced plans to establish dedicated Information Technology (IT) colleges in all 30 districts of the province, officials confirmed on Sunday.
The initiative follows a directive from the Sindh High Court’s Sukkur Bench, issued on September 17, 2025, ordering the provincial government to create a comprehensive network of IT colleges to expand access to technology education.
Acting swiftly on the court’s directive, the Department of College Education has instructed the Director General of Colleges (DGCS) and all Regional Directors to submit detailed progress reports on the project. Officials have been given a strict three-day deadline, underscoring the government’s commitment to fast-tracking implementation.
The ambitious plan also includes the establishment of seven new IT colleges within Karachi’s districts. This move aims to decentralize access to advanced technical education, ensuring that opportunities for digital skill development are available not only in urban centers but also in rural and underserved areas across Sindh.
