The Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) Punjab has achieved a historic milestone by holding its first-ever convocation, celebrating the successful completion of training by the pioneering batch of MERAKI Hospitality trainees. The grand ceremony, held in Lahore, marked a defining moment in vocational education and skills development in the province.
The convocation was graced by the Speaker of the Punjab Assembly, Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan, who attended as the chief guest and commended TEVTA’s efforts to align skills training with industry needs. He emphasized the importance of quality vocational education in empowering youth and strengthening Pakistan’s service and hospitality sectors.
Several prominent dignitaries attended the ceremony as guests of honor, including Parliamentary Secretary for Skills Development Ch Saqib Khan Chadhar, Parliamentary Secretary for Women Development and Focal Person to the Chief Minister Punjab for Garments City Saadia Temur MPA, Chairperson of the Chief Minister’s Skill Development Task Force Adnan Afzal Chattha, Secretary of the Skills Development and Entrepreneurship Department Nadir Chattha, TEVTA Chairperson Brigadier (R) Muhammad Sajid Khokhar, former TEVTA Chairperson Khalid Mahmood, and Director General Operations TEVTA Aamer Aziz.
Adding to the significance of the event, representatives from leading hospitality hotel chains and the Confederation of Tourism and Hospitality from across the country were present. Their participation underscored growing industry confidence in MERAKI, Pakistan’s first public-sector hospitality training initiative, and highlighted strong public-private collaboration in workforce development.
