The Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology (GIKI) hosted His Excellency Mr Rongvudhi Virabutr, Ambassador of Thailand to Pakistan, to explore avenues for strengthening academic and technological collaboration between the two countries.
The discussions, led by GIKI Rector Prof Dr Fazal A Khalid, along with Pro-Rector (Academics) Prof Dr S M Hasan Zaidi and Acting Pro-Rector (Administration) Prof Dr Sabir, focused on fostering institutional partnerships through Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs), as well as launching student and faculty exchange programs.
Both sides expressed keen interest in joint research initiatives, particularly in emerging fields such as robotics, artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and electric vehicle technologies. The Ambassador lauded GIKI’s innovation ecosystem and appreciated the efforts of its Incubation Center in nurturing startups and promoting technological entrepreneurship.
The visit concluded with a tour of GIKI’s state-of-the-art laboratories in Cyber Security, AI, Data Analytics, Robotics, and Civil Engineering. The GIKI leadership also extended an invitation to the Ambassador to participate in the upcoming HONET Conference scheduled for early December.
