UAJK Hosts PEC Chairman as Major Support Programs Announced

Chairman Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) Engineer Waseem Nazir on Monday announced a series of reforms aimed at supporting engineering students and graduates during his visit to the University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (UAJK).

Speaking at the university, the PEC chief revealed that the council is launching an Engineering Graduates Placement Program and setting up Pathway to Practice Desks in Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, and Mirpur. He also announced that graduating students will now be issued Engineering Cards on their convocation day to facilitate their entry into the profession.

Highlighting PEC’s international initiatives, Nazir disclosed that 1,000 Pakistani engineers will be sent to China for training and exposure, a step he described as crucial for strengthening the engineering sector and enhancing global competitiveness.

“Education is not merely a source of employment but a means of becoming better human beings,” he said, emphasizing that while technology has created equal opportunities worldwide, values and ethics must remain the guiding principles in applying knowledge.

Earlier, UAJK Registrar and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering welcomed the PEC Chairman and provided an overview of the university’s engineering programs. Engineer Muhammad Sohail, in a detailed presentation, briefed participants on PEC’s statutory framework, national engineering landscape, industry trends, and career pathways.
