UMT Awards 4051 Degrees at 28th Convocation

The University of Management and Technology (UMT) held its 28th Convocation on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at its main campus in Johar Town, Lahore, conferring 4051 degrees across multiple disciplines and reaffirming its commitment to national development through quality education.

According to UMT, this year’s graduating cohort included 3248 Bachelor’s degree recipients, 51 Master’s graduates, 693 MS/MPhil scholars, and 59 PhD awardees. The university also presented a wide range of distinctions, including Patron’s Gold Medals, Rector’s Silver Medals, Academic Excellence Awards, Certificates of Merit, research publication awards, entrepreneurship awards, and several special medals named after notable contributors to education and industry.

The ceremony was attended by Provincial Minister for Finance, Punjab, Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman, who served as Chief Guest. Other dignitaries included Chairman ILM Trust and President UMT Ibrahim Hasan Murad, Rector UMT Air Vice Marshal (R) Dr Asif Raza, Chief Advisor Lt General (R) Javed Hasan, Chairman LOTTE Chemicals Dr Imtiaz Ahmed, Provost UMT Prof Dr Asghar Zaidi, CEO FAST Cables Kamal Amjad Mian, senior leadership, faculty, graduates and their families.

In his address, Ibrahim Hasan Murad congratulated the graduates and emphasized that Pakistan’s greatest strength lies in its educated and principled youth. He urged students to uphold respect for parents, serve humanity and pursue excellence with hard work. Highlighting UMT’s significant investment in education, he noted that the institution has provided over PKR 16 billion in scholarships to promote accessibility and academic opportunity.

Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman praised UMT for its contributions to higher education and described the graduates as the future architects of Pakistan. He stated that the Punjab Government’s policies prioritize youth empowerment through education, training and skills development. He cited the Chief Minister’s Education Endowment Fund and Scholarship Program as key initiatives ensuring that no deserving student is denied learning due to financial barriers.

Addressing the convocation, Dr Imtiaz Ahmed commended UMT’s academic standards, leadership and consistent progress, describing the university as a leading institution in Pakistan’s higher education landscape. He encouraged graduates to acquire advanced knowledge and modern competencies, urging them to contribute to national growth with integrity, dedication and professionalism.

Rector UMT Air Vice Marshal (R) Dr Asif Raza congratulated the graduates and acknowledged the pivotal role of parents and teachers in their achievements. He noted that only a small percentage of Pakistanis reach university education, stressing that the graduates now hold a responsibility to uphold the values and excellence associated with UMT. He highlighted the university’s accomplishments over 35 years and its recognition as Pakistan’s top private university.

During the ceremony, degrees, medals and cheques were awarded by the Chief Guest and UMT leadership. The event concluded with President UMT presenting a souvenir to Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman in appreciation of his participation.
