The University of Management and Technology (UMT) held a dynamic seminar titled “Future Leaders and Business Leaders”, bringing together students, faculty members, and prominent figures from the business world to foster dialogue on leadership, innovation, and the role of youth in national development.
The seminar featured Farooq Naseem, Chairman and CEO of DWP Group, as the Chief Guest, with UMT President Ibrahim Hasan Murad as a key speaker.
In his address, President Murad described UMT’s entrepreneurial journey as a “guiding light” for youth. He emphasized that the seminar was designed to connect students directly with successful industry leaders, helping them prepare for impactful roles in the country’s economic and social progress. Murad underlined the transformative potential of emerging technologies, particularly Artificial Intelligence (AI), in shaping the future of business.
Farooq Naseem, in a compelling keynote speech, urged educators to build self-confidence in their students. Reflecting on his own career path from textiles to IT manufacturing, he spoke about the importance of dedication and hard work, noting that his journey involved working 13 to 14 hours a day.
“Fear must be eliminated from society,” Naseem stated, highlighting that learning must extend beyond textbooks to include real-world social engagement. He called virtual education a “new challenge with great promise,” and emphasized that the coming decade will be defined by innovation.
Naseem encouraged institutions to align curricula with global trends, equipping students with knowledge and tools to attract international investment. He praised Pakistan’s vast potential and called on the youth to actively contribute through creativity and resilience.
“Don’t wait for opportunities—create them,” he urged the audience, adding that the youth represent the fruit of the sacrifices made by previous generations.
Sharing insights from his own organization, Naseem noted that 1,200 employees have been with DWP Group for over two decades, crediting a respectful and empowering workplace culture. He also cautioned that businesses suffer when individuals are placed in roles that do not suit their strengths.
The event concluded with a token of appreciation presented by President Murad to Mr Farooq Naseem, along with warm acknowledgments for his inspiring words and contributions to youth development.
