Minister of State for Federal Education and Professional Training (MoFEPT) Ms Wajiha Qamar visited the National Book Foundation (NBF) in Islamabad, where she inaugurated the Quaid-e-Azam Corner and Iqbal Corner aimed at promoting Pakistan’s intellectual, literary and cultural heritage among younger generations.
During her visit, the Minister underscored the importance of preserving the country’s intellectual and cultural legacy and ensuring that young people remain connected with the vision, thought and ideals of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Allama Muhammad Iqbal.
Ms Wajiha Qamar also visited the National Book Museum, where she reviewed its collection of rare books, historic Qur’anic manuscripts and other significant literary materials. The museum’s collections provide visitors with an opportunity to explore important aspects of Pakistan’s literary, religious and intellectual heritage.
The Minister was also given a detailed briefing on the new National Curriculum, which is expected to be implemented from March 2027. The briefing covered key areas including textbook development, quality standards and collaboration between the government and Pakistani publishers.
She appreciated the National Book Foundation’s academic, literary and publishing services and acknowledged its role in encouraging reading and access to knowledge across the country.
The Minister reaffirmed the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training’s commitment to strengthening a culture of reading, research and intellectual development among Pakistan’s youth. She stressed the importance of institutions such as NBF in providing young people with access to books, ideas and the intellectual foundations that have shaped Pakistan’s national identity.

The inauguration of the Quaid-e-Azam and Iqbal Corners marks another step toward making the National Book Foundation a stronger platform for connecting younger generations with the country’s literary and intellectual heritage.
