Waseela-e-Taleem Registration Goes Mobile in 2025

In a major stride toward digital inclusion, the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) is preparing to introduce a dedicated mobile application for the online registration of its Waseela-e-Taleem (WeT) initiative, also known as Benazir Taleemi Wazaif, starting in 2025.

The move marks a transformative shift from the traditional enrollment process that requires BISP beneficiaries—mostly mothers—to visit local Tehsil offices to register their children for educational stipends. Through this mobile-based registration system, BISP aims to eliminate logistical hurdles, reduce travel costs, and save valuable time for millions of low-income families across Pakistan.

The Waseela-e-Taleem program, a Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) scheme, provides quarterly stipends to families whose children maintain at least 70 percent school attendance. BISP already employs an Android-based digital system for attendance marking and geo-tagging of students. The upcoming mobile app will streamline the entire process, from enrollment to compliance verification, ensuring transparency and efficiency.

To register, beneficiaries will likely need to provide the mother’s BISP profile details and the child’s NADRA-issued B-Form. This integration is expected to enhance data accuracy and security while helping the government meet its goal of improving school retention and literacy rates.

Officials say the digital registration system will also strengthen women’s financial empowerment by placing control directly in the hands of registered mothers. They will be able to update enrollment details, monitor registration progress, and receive timely updates—all through their mobile phones.

If successfully implemented, this initiative could become a benchmark for Pakistan’s broader digital transformation efforts within social welfare programs, ensuring that financial assistance reaches deserving families promptly and without bureaucratic delays.
