Pakistan has welcomed the first group of Bangladeshi students awarded the ‘Allama Iqbal’ scholarships, marking the formal launch of a new phase of academic collaboration under the ‘Dehleez-e-Danish’ program.
According to the High Commission of Pakistan in Bangladesh, the initiative aims to strengthen educational and cultural ties between Pakistan and Bangladesh by facilitating access to higher education opportunities at leading Pakistani universities. The program is being implemented as a joint effort by Pakistan and Bangladesh to promote scientific cooperation and academic exchange among young scholars.
The students were officially received by HEC officials upon their arrival, reflecting the importance both countries place on fostering people-to-people connections and expanding academic partnerships. Officials highlighted that the initiative will not only support students’ educational aspirations but also contribute to long-term collaboration in research and innovation.
Authorities have indicated that more groups of students from a wide range of academic disciplines are expected to arrive in the coming months, further expanding the scope of the program.
The ‘Allama Iqbal’ scholarship scheme remains one of Pakistan’s key educational initiatives for students from regional countries, offering opportunities for advanced study in diverse fields. Meanwhile, the ‘Dehleez-e-Danish’ agreement, established in recent years following improved diplomatic relations between Islamabad and Dhaka, is designed to facilitate knowledge exchange, strengthen scientific linkages, and advance regional cooperation in higher education.
