Arbor School Wins Global Education Prize for Sustainability

The Arbor School in Al Furjan has been crowned the world’s best for environmental action, winning a top global education award for its deep commitment to sustainability.

The school was awarded the World’s Best School Prize for Environmental Action 2025, one of the most prestigious accolades in education. The award recognizes Arbor School’s success in embedding “Eco Literacy” into its core curriculum from kindergarten through secondary education.

Students at the independent institution don’t just learn about the environment in theory; they engage in hands-on projects tackling real-world issues like waste reduction, renewable energy, and sustainable living. This approach is designed to foster a generation of critical thinkers and proactive problem-solvers.

Upon accepting the award, Principal Gemma Thornley praised the entire school community for their collective effort. “This recognition is a testament to the hard work of our students, staff, and families,” she said.

Launched in 2022, the World’s Best School Prizes aim to spotlight schools that are making an exceptional impact both inside the classroom and within their wider communities. Winners are selected by a panel of experts based on rigorous criteria.

In a related award, the Community Choice Award, decided by public vote, was given to ZP School Jalindarnagar in Maharashtra, India.
