Aror University of Art, Architecture, Design and Heritage, Sukkur, has launched its International Winter School/Camp 2027 in Islamabad, bringing together diplomats, academics, university leaders and representatives of cultural institutions to promote international academic cooperation and cross-cultural learning.

The launch ceremony was held at Islamabad Club in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and the Inter-University Consortium for the Promotion of Social Sciences Pakistan (IUCPSS). The event was attended by Mauritius High Commissioner Munsoo Kurimbaccus, Aror University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Zahid Hussain Khand, HEC Member (R&D and Academics) Prof Dr Habib Ali Bokhari, National Language Promotion Department Director General Prof Dr Muhammad Saleem Mazhar, Ziauddin University Islamabad Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Ghulam Raza Bhatti, Rawalpindi Women University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Tayyaba Zarif and IUCPSS National Coordinator Muhammad Murtaza Noor, among other guests.

Prof Dr Zahid Hussain Khand said the two-week programme would strengthen international collaboration, cultural exchange and academic partnerships while giving students opportunities to interact with scholars, institutions and cultural communities from different countries.

According to Aror University, the Winter School/Camp will take place from January 11 to 22, 2027, and is designed as an immersive academic and cultural experience for international undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate students. The programme will explore Pakistan’s art, culture and heritage, with activities linked to areas including art, fashion, photography and heritage.

The programme is also expected to provide participants with opportunities for academic discussions, creative activities, intercultural dialogue, experiential learning and visits highlighting Pakistan’s cultural and intellectual heritage. The university has particularly promoted the opportunity to explore heritage sites and experience Pakistan beyond the classroom.

Khand said such initiatives could help students develop broader perspectives, improve communication skills and gain a deeper appreciation of cultural diversity while building connections with peers and academics from different countries.

Mauritius High Commissioner Munsoo Kurimbaccus welcomed the initiative, saying educational and cultural exchanges can contribute to mutual understanding and strengthen relations between nations. HEC Member Prof Dr Habib Ali Bokhari also appreciated the programme and highlighted the importance of international partnerships, research collaboration and global exposure for students, while expressing HEC’s support for such academic initiatives.

The initiative reflects Aror University’s wider efforts to expand international engagement. The university, established in 2020, offers programmes spanning architecture, engineering, design, heritage, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, multimedia and other emerging fields.
