The Federal Government and the Government of Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK) have reaffirmed their commitment to accelerating the establishment of five Daanish Schools across the region, with officials stressing the need for close coordination to bring the institutions into operation at the earliest.
The development came during a high-level meeting held in Muzaffarabad on September 15, 2026, where Secretary for the Federal Education and Professional Training (MoFEPT) Nadeem Mahbub briefed AJK Prime Minister Iftikhar Gillani on the concept, design and implementation progress of the Daanish Schools initiative.
The meeting was attended by the AJK Minister for Education, Chief Secretary AJK, Project Director Daanish School and other senior officials.
During the briefing, Nadeem Mahbub outlined the progress of five Daanish Schools being established in Bhimber, Bagh, Neelum, Haveli Kahuta and Kotli. The initiative is aimed at strengthening educational infrastructure and creating greater access to quality education for students in different parts of the region.
Prime Minister Iftikhar Gillani assured the federal authorities of the AJK government’s full support and facilitation for the smooth and timely execution of all five projects. He called for effective coordination among the departments concerned and prompt resolution of implementation-related issues.
The prime minister also emphasized the importance of completing the projects without unnecessary delays so that the schools can become operational at the earliest and contribute to expanding educational opportunities in AJK.
The meeting highlighted a shared focus of the federal and AJK governments on improving educational infrastructure, promoting equitable access to quality education and developing the region’s human capital through expanded educational opportunities.
