The federal government has announced a sweeping development package for Karachi, featuring 22 mega projects worth Rs334 billion and a free laptop distribution scheme for students.
Federal spokesperson Raja Ansari revealed on Wednesday that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will formally launch the initiative this December at the mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam, where the first batch of laptops will be distributed. The program aims to boost educational opportunities while driving infrastructure growth in the metropolis.
“The federal government is committed to Karachi’s progress. Our goal is cooperation, not confrontation,” Ansari said, highlighting plans to work jointly with the Sindh government and the Mayor of Karachi. He dismissed criticism from political opponents, insisting the initiative is focused on public welfare rather than point-scoring.
Ansari also lauded Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori as a “good person” and assured that the federal government would continue to prioritize facilities for the people of Karachi.
