Punjab University (PU) Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Ali has emphasized the critical role universities must play in addressing the challenges faced by industries in Pakistan. He made these remarks during the concluding ceremony of ‘Hailey Research Week 2024,’ organized by Punjab University Hailey College of Commerce (HCC) at its premises.
The event brought together an esteemed panel of participants, including Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood, Dean Faculty of Commerce Prof Dr Mubbsher Munawar Khan, Principal HCC Prof Dr Hafiz Zafar Ahmad, President of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI) Mian Abuzar Shad, along with delegates from the USA and Dubai, economists, industrialists, educationists from various Pakistani universities, faculty members, and students.
Prof Dr Muhammad Ali highlighted the urgent need for collective efforts to pull Pakistan out of its economic crisis, stressing that success could be achieved through cooperation among all stakeholders. He congratulated the organizers for hosting an impactful event and acknowledged the importance of such initiatives in providing students with opportunities to learn from the expertise of seasoned professionals.
Principal HCC Prof Dr Hafiz Zafar Ahmad expressed gratitude to the LCCI for its collaboration and applauded the contributions of the panelists and participants. He noted that the discussions during Hailey Research Week addressed pressing economic challenges in Pakistan’s business sector and proposed actionable solutions centered on entrepreneurship, economic sustainability, and innovation.
