The Institute of Business Management (IoBM) hosted a five-day National Curriculum Revision Committee (NCRC) meeting on Computing and Information Technology, held from September 30 to October 4, 2025, in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Government of Pakistan, and the British Council. The event brought together leading academicians, industry professionals, and policymakers to realign Pakistan’s computing education with international standards.
Representing IoBM were Prof Dr Tariq Rahim Soomro, Rector, and Prof Dr Muhammad Abbas, Dean of the College of Computer Science and Information Systems (CCSIS). The opening ceremony featured a welcome address by Prof Dr Soomro, followed by remarks from Dr Amjad Hussain, Director General (Academics), HEC, and Mr Abdul Hafeez Abbasi, EU TVET Technical Advisor, British Council.
Throughout the week-long session, the committee finalized the new structure for computing programs, integrating emerging disciplines such as Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, and Data Science. Members agreed on a unified set of core courses for BS Computing, reviewed industry-linked final year projects, and proposed enhanced certification options and soft skills training.
The committee also approved the updated learning outcomes, degree requirements, and eligibility criteria for BS Computer Science programs across the country.
At the closing ceremony, Mr Nasir Shah, Director General, Quality Assurance Agency (QAA), HEC, praised the participants for their collaborative efforts and commitment to modernizing computing education. He emphasized the importance of equipping graduates with digital skills, fostering academia-industry partnerships, and preparing students for the evolving job market.

The event concluded with the presentation of the finalized BS Computer Science curriculum, along with the distribution of souvenirs and certificates to the participants.
