ITU Hosts Elite Global Tech Thinkers for Research Exchange

The Information Technology University (ITU) Lahore, in partnership with CISS-Global, IEEE, ACM, SPIE, and OPTICA, successfully organized the International Distinguished Lecturer Workshop, a significant academic event that brought together leading global experts in technology and engineering.

The workshop was held under the patronage of Vice Chancellor Dr Adnan Noor Mian, who also holds the UNESCO Chair in ICTD, alongside Dr Tauseef Tauqeer, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, and Dr Muhammad Qasim Mehmood, Chairperson of the Electrical Engineering Department. Their leadership was instrumental in facilitating this prestigious gathering.

The event featured a lineup of distinguished speakers from world-renowned institutions. These included Prof. Stefano Maci from the Università di Siena in Italy, Dr Goutam Chattopadhyay and Dr Imran Mehdi from IEEE and Caltech, USA, Prof. Muhammad Ali Imran, Prof. Qammer H. Abbasi, and Dr Hasan Abbas from the University of Glasgow in the UK, Dr Sulekha Chattopadhyay from the California Environmental Protection Agency, USA, Prof. Levent Sevgi from Istanbul Technical University in Turkey, Prof. Atif Shamim from KAUST, Saudi Arabia, Prof. Akram Alomainy from Queen Mary University of London, UK, and Dr Muhammad Zubair from the University of Leicester, UK, who is also the former Chairperson of ITU’s Electrical Engineering Department.

Throughout the workshop, the speakers shared pioneering insights on cutting-edge topics such as Electromagnetics, RF and Microwave Engineering, Metasurfaces, and Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RIS), among other emerging communication technologies. These sessions provided students and faculty at ITU with a unique opportunity for academic enrichment and knowledge exchange with global leaders in the field.

The success of the workshop was supported by the dedicated efforts of ITU’s Administration and Media Departments. The university expressed pride in hosting such a transformative event, reaffirming its commitment to advancing research, fostering innovation, and promoting international academic collaboration.
