Naval Chief Inaugurates Bahria University College of Medicine in Islamabad

On Thursday, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf officially inaugurated the Bahria University College of Medicine (BUCM) in a ceremony held at its newly constructed campus in Islamabad.

Admiral Ashraf lauded Bahria University’s efforts in providing high-quality education across various disciplines and expressed his confidence that BUCM would soon establish itself as a leading institution for medical education in Pakistan. He acknowledged the numerous challenges that lie ahead but stressed the importance of seizing new opportunities in the field of health sciences.

During his speech, Admiral Ashraf emphasized the critical role that faculty professionalism, dedication, and commitment play in the success of educational institutes. He remarked that these elements would be instrumental in making BUCM one of the country’s premier medical institutes.

In his welcome address, Bahria University Rector Vice Admiral (Retd) Asif Khaliq expressed gratitude for the continued support of the Pakistan Navy in the development of the campus. He highlighted the significance of the new medical college in meeting the growing need for healthcare professionals and contributing to the nation’s medical sector.

The Project Director of Bahria University Health Sciences Islamabad presented an overview of the project, showcasing the college’s state-of-the-art facilities and infrastructure designed to provide students with a conducive learning environment.

Following the inaugural ceremony, Admiral Ashraf toured the new campus, expressing his appreciation for the modern amenities available to students and faculty alike.

The event was attended by several senior officials from the Health Ministry, Pakistan Medical & Dental Council, Higher Education Commission, former rectors, faculty members, and students. The inauguration of BUCM marks a significant milestone in the ongoing expansion of Bahria University’s academic and research programs.

With the addition of the College of Medicine, Bahria University aims to contribute significantly to Pakistan’s healthcare system by producing well-trained medical professionals capable of addressing the country’s evolving healthcare needs.
