NSU Pledges to Prepare Graduates for the Future of Work

Parliamentary Secretary for the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training (MoFEPT), Ms Rabia Naseem Farooqi, visited the National Skills University (NSU) Islamabad, where she reviewed the university’s academic programmes, skills-based educational approach and initiatives aimed at strengthening technical and professional education.

Vice Chancellor NSU Professor Dr Saud Altaf welcomed the Parliamentary Secretary and briefed her on the university’s efforts to promote skills-based higher education, technological competencies and stronger industry-academia linkages.

Professor Dr Saud Altaf said NSU was committed to producing graduates equipped with the practical and professional skills demanded by industry and the modern workplace. He highlighted the university’s focus on quality education, innovation and technology as part of its contribution to the national agenda of youth empowerment.

Ms Rabia Naseem Farooqi appreciated NSU’s progress in promoting skills-oriented higher education and commended its efforts to prepare students for contemporary professional and technological challenges.

She expressed the hope that NSU would continue to develop as a leading institution for skills education and play a greater role in enhancing youth employability, professional development and Pakistan’s economic growth.

During the meeting, the Parliamentary Secretary emphasized the importance of education in driving economic development, digital transformation and youth empowerment. Quoting the maxim, “an investment in knowledge pays the best interest,” she said education should be regarded as an honour rather than a burden.

Ms Farooqi stressed the need to equip Pakistan’s youth with modern, market-oriented skills through education and technology. She also called for university curricula to remain aligned with emerging fields, particularly Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence and other future-oriented disciplines.

She said strengthening skills-based education and adopting emerging technologies would be essential to fulfilling the Prime Minister’s vision of a knowledge-driven and globally competitive Pakistan.
