NUST Makes Pakistan Proud with Silver Medal in China

Pakistan’s National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) has secured a major international achievement after its team clinched first position among foreign participating countries and won the overall Silver Medal at the 13th International Army Cadets Week (IACW) in Nanjing, China.

The five-day international event, being held from November 2 to 6 at the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Army Engineering University, has brought together military cadets from 11 countries, alongside participants from 15 Chinese military academies.

The NUST team’s achievement highlights Pakistan’s participation in an international platform that combines military education, innovation, leadership and cross-cultural collaboration. Securing the top position among foreign participating countries also reflects the team’s competitive performance against international military academy representatives.

The 13th edition of IACW is being held under the theme, “Addressing Key Regional Security Risks, Deepening International Military Security Cooperation, and Delivering International Public Security Products.” It aims to promote academic exchanges, strengthen international military cooperation and encourage innovation in addressing emerging security challenges.

A major feature of this year’s programme is the “Future Co-creation” International Military Cadets Innovation Competition, which is being organized alongside the event for the first time. The competition covers four areas: international peacekeeping, escort missions, international humanitarian rescue, and international and regional counterterrorism cooperation.

Participating cadets are presenting innovative projects, including intelligent reconnaissance robots for urban counterterrorism, tactical underwater reconnaissance drone systems, advanced camouflage technologies for peacekeeping operations and intelligent surveillance systems for diplomatic missions.

The event also provides opportunities for foreign cadets to train and study alongside their Chinese counterparts, exchange technical knowledge and explore developments in military technology. The programme is scheduled to conclude on November 6.
