Punjab Approves Summer Camps for Schoolchildren

The School Education Department (SED) Punjab has officially greenlit summer camps for students across both government and private schools, to be held from June 16 to July 15, 2025.

According to an official notification, the initiative aims to engage students in productive curricular activities during the summer break. Camps will be open to students of all grades, but attendance will be voluntary. Parents are required to submit written consent for their children to participate.

To safeguard children from extreme summer temperatures, the camps will operate from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM. The timing applies to schools with morning, evening, and afternoon shifts.

The Education Department has strictly directed that private institutions must not charge any additional fees for these camps. Government schools are also mandated to offer the program completely free of cost.

All scheduled activities will be conducted indoors. Schools must ensure the availability of clean drinking water, proper seating, fans, backup power supply, and first aid kits during camp hours.

While wearing school uniforms is not mandatory, students are encouraged to wear light, breathable clothing and bring hats or caps for sun protection.
