Amid the persistent heatwave, the Punjab government has introduced new measures for public and private schools, including easing uniform restrictions to protect students from extreme temperatures.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has instructed authorities to stay vigilant and urged residents to take precautions against the scorching heat. Parents have been advised to limit children’s outdoor exposure to prevent heat-related illnesses.
Under the new directives, all outdoor school activities have been suspended, and classrooms must be equipped with at least one working fan. To combat the intense heat, students are now permitted to wear lighter, more breathable clothing. Schools have also been mandated to keep first aid kits accessible.
For public areas like markets and transport hubs, the government has ordered the provision of shaded spaces, cool drinking water, and first aid facilities. Emergency services, including Rescue 1122, have been put on high alert to ensure cooling arrangements—such as fans and water—are available at bus and van stands.

Farmers, especially in Multan and Bahawalpur, have been warned to exercise caution during outdoor work. Additionally, the Chief Minister emphasized the need for shaded areas and water for livestock, while encouraging citizens to place water bowls on rooftops to help birds cope with the heat.
