UHS Launches Modern MBBS and BDS Curricula

The University of Health Sciences (UHS) has officially launched its fully revised MBBS and BDS curricula, marking a major milestone in medical and dental education across Punjab. The MBBS Modular Integrated Curriculum 2K23 and the BDS Integrated Curriculum 2K25 were inaugurated during a formal ceremony at UHS Lahore.

Punjab’s Minister for Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education, Khawaja Salman Rafique, presided over the event as chief guest and officially made the curricula live on the UHS website, signaling their implementation. The ceremony was attended by senior academics, college principals, and representatives from statutory bodies.

The updated programs were approved jointly by the UHS Syndicate and the Boards of Studies for Medicine and Dentistry. UHS Registrar Kiran Fatima presented the formal resolution, which was endorsed by the board conveners, the syndicate chairman, and the provincial minister.

According to UHS officials, the redesigned curricula adhere to national regulatory standards and international best practices. They focus on integrated learning, early clinical exposure, professionalism, and practical skills development.

UHS Vice Chancellor Prof Ahsan Waheed Rathore emphasized the Punjab government’s strong support for the reforms and stated that the new clerkship-based model would elevate the quality of medical training. Pro Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Nadia Naseem highlighted that the MBBS curriculum had been developed over three years with contributions from nearly 700 faculty members.
