UMT Launches Centre for Innovation in Real Estate

The University of Management and Technology (UMT) inaugurated the Centre for Innovation in Real Estate (CIRE) in a grand ceremony held at a local hotel in Johar Town, Lahore. The event drew prominent industry experts, architects, planners, and distinguished guests from across Pakistan’s real estate and academic sectors.

Among the notable participants were Ibrahim Hassan Murad, Former Provincial Minister and President of UMT; Marghoob Ahmed, Vice Chairman of the Lahore Development Authority (LDA); Saeed Nazir, Chairman Blue World City; Akbar Sheikh, CEO Zaamin Group; Dr Fariha Tariq, Dean School of Architecture and Planning; Sheikh Muhammad Nabeel, Chairman North Region ABAD; and senior political figure Nazeer Chohan.

Welcoming the audience, UMT President Ibrahim Hassan Murad described CIRE as a “national hub for research, capacity building, and industry collaboration” aimed at linking academia with real estate practice. He stressed that the centre would integrate technology, policy insights, and global best practices to prepare the next generation to lead Pakistan’s urban future.

“CIRE will empower professionals, pave the way for reforms, and mark a significant step from tradition to innovation,” Murad said. “With effective policymaking, Pakistan can attract foreign investment, grow allied industries, and build communities where families live in peace and comfort. Launching specialized degree programs and certifications is part of securing property rights, which I believe is the true foundation of national progress.”

Speaking on the occasion, LDA Vice Chairman Marghoob Ahmed congratulated Murad and UMT for taking a bold step in advancing Pakistan’s real estate sector. “CIRE will play a pivotal role in modernizing the industry and driving collective contributions for the nation’s prosperity,” he remarked.

The inauguration also featured a high-level panel discussion where experts emphasized fostering partnerships, enhancing transparency, and creating opportunities for sustainable growth. Participants agreed that CIRE would play a central role in addressing the sector’s pressing challenges and shaping its future trajectory.
