International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS) Karachi University has announced that May 20th is the last date for submission of admission form to the MPhil & PhD Degree Program-2022.

Spokesman of the ICCBS – the University of Karachi (KU) on Tuesday said, “Aspiring Candidate can fill in and submit admission forms with scanned copies of prerequisite marks sheet through the online admission portal.

He said that the successful students would be granted admission to the Dr Panjwani Center for Molecular Medicine and Drug Research (PCMD) and Husein Ebrahim Jamal (H. E. J.) Research Institute of Chemistry (HEJRIC). Admissions will be given in various disciplines of sciences, which include Organic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Textile Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Bio-Organic Chemistry, Pharmacology, and Molecular Medicine, he added.

It is pertinent to mention here that Admission Prospectus 2022 and fee vouchers could be downloaded from ICCBS’s official website. The candidates applying for admissions would submit an Rs5000 non-refundable processing fee in any branch of Sindh Bank. It is also worth mentioning here that a scanned copy of the fee deposit slip must be uploaded along with the admission form by May 20, 2022 at the latest.

The Chairman of Higher Education Commission Pakistan (HEC) Dr Tariq Banuri on Tuesday visited the University of Karachi (KU) and met the varsity’s acting administration discussing security arrangements and plans.

The Chairman of HEC Pakistan Dr Tariq Banuri expressed deep sorrow on the casualties of Chinese faculty during the attack on April 26 and he termed it a great loss. During the meeting, Dr Banuri was informed that the varsity has been working on the PC-I regarding the security of the campus, and soon it would be shared with the HEC Pakistan for the release of funds.

He was informed that the latest and most secure security system is required for the University of Karachi. The varsity’s administration has decided to build and repair its boundary wall, keen to improve the security at the entrance gates, and would like to install hi-tech security cameras and a central monitoring room to have better surveillance around the campus as well as the construction of the watchtowers.

It was discussed to introduce computerized cards for students, faculty, employees, and other staff. The HEC Chairman assured full support of the commission and said that the HEC would help the KU in improving its security so that students could continue their education with ease.

Later, he visited the Confucius Institute for Chinese Language and Culture University of Karachi and met its Pakistani Director Professor Dr Nasiruddin Khan who briefed the Chairman of HEC Pakistan Dr Tariq Banuri about the CIUK and its performance.

Dr Tariq Banuri paid homage to the victims of the unfortunate incident and said that the CIUK was benefitting the students and contributing to the strengthening of Pak-China relations.

The University of Karachi (KU) on Tuesday issued a security advisory for BA and B.Com exams starting from May 24 on campus.

In view of the recent security measures, it has been decided that students coming for examinations on foot can enter through Silver Jubilee Gate after showing their Admit Cards.

The advisory states that the students should try to use public transport or pick-and-drop service to get to the university. They could easily get to examination centers by the shuttle service being provided by the varsity.

In case of bringing a private vehicle, the students are directed to park their vehicles in the designated area at the Maskan Gate. In case of vehicle theft, the university administration will not be responsible.

The administration has arranged a shuttle service to take all the students to the examination centers which will be available at both the entrances Maskan Gate and Silver Jubilee Gate of the KU.

The students should try to arrive at the university one hour before the scheduled examination time so that they can easily reach the examination center after the required security check. In addition, the KU security advisory also directs that carrying a mobile phone or any internet device to the exams centers is strictly prohibited.

At the time of entry, the students should keep their ID cards, registration cards, and admit cards and present them at the request of the university security. Further, the students should follow the orders of the university security staff and avoid unnecessary discussion.
