1,446 graduates receive degrees at 26th IoBM Convocation

The Institute of Business Management (IoBM) in Karachi marked a significant milestone with its 26th Convocation held on Saturday, December 09, 2023, at the campus. The ceremony saw the conferral of degrees upon 1,446 graduates spanning over 40 disciplines, including Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Ph.D. programs. Distinguished attendees included senior representatives from IoBM, graduating students, proud parents, and faculty members.

Mr Bashir Janmohammad, the Chancellor of IoBM, extended a warm welcome, setting the tone for the ceremony. The keynote address was eloquently delivered by Mr Rizwan Ahmed Sheikh, CEO of the Saudi Pak Industrial and Agricultural Investment Company and an alumnus of IoBM’s inaugural graduating class. Mr Talib S Karim, President of IoBM, presented a comprehensive progress report on behalf of the institution.

During his address, Mr. Bashir Janmohammad urged the graduates to trust in their intellectual capabilities and contribute toward the betterment of their nation. He emphasized the importance of dedicating efforts to the prosperity of the country.

The graduating batch, comprising students from diverse fields such as commerce, finance, data sciences, and entrepreneurship, was awarded 22 gold medals for outstanding achievements. Of the graduates, 872 received Bachelor’s degrees, 527 earned Master’s degrees, and 33 were conferred with MS/M.Phil. degrees. Additionally, 47 students received merit certificates, and 14 individuals were granted PhD degrees during the ceremony.

Providing an overview of IoBM’s progress, President Mr. Talib S. Karim highlighted the transformation of his father’s passion project into one of the country’s leading educational institutions. Notably, he mentioned the Shahjehan Syed Karim Incubation Centre (SSKIC), which, since its establishment in November 2020, has successfully incubated 20 tech-enabled startups and secured over PKR 6 million in external funding from HEC and the Private Sector. Mr. Karim also underscored IoBM’s robust endowment fund, its commitment to research through the Office of Research, Innovation, and Commercialization (ORIC), and its focus on extracurricular activities.

Dinah Kamal Hamidi, the Valedictorian for the year, shared reflections on the collective memories and learning experiences of her peers. Encouraging her fellow graduates, she emphasized the exceptional capabilities they possess and the new journey that awaited them.

Keynote Speaker Rizwan Ahmed Sheikh commended the graduates and shared valuable insights for their future endeavors. He encapsulated his secret to success in four acronyms: D, C, B, and A, representing Dream, Create, Believe, and Achieve. Stressing the importance of discipline, consistency, and hard work, he encouraged the graduates to adhere to these principles for the fulfillment of their ambitions.
