Healthier Schools Ahead: MoFEPT Partners with Nestle Pakistan

The Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training (MoFEPT) has signed two Letters of Understanding (LoUs) with Nestlé Pakistan to strengthen nutrition education and encourage healthier lifestyles among schoolchildren, including children with special needs, through collaborative public-private initiatives.

The signing ceremony, held in Islamabad on Friday, was attended by Secretary Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training Nadeem Mahbub, senior ministry officials, Head of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability at Nestlé Pakistan Sheikh Waqar Ahmad, Manager Corporate Affairs Zaira Ahmed, and members of the Nestlé Pakistan team.

The agreements were signed between Nestlé Pakistan and the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE), as well as between Nestlé Pakistan and the Directorate General of Special Education (DGSE), under the company’s Nestlé for Healthier Kids initiative.

The collaboration aims to promote nutrition awareness, healthy eating habits, hydration, hygiene, physical activity, and responsible waste management among students. Under the partnership with the Federal Directorate of Education, up to 300 teachers will receive specialized training, benefiting approximately 10,000 students enrolled in federal government schools.

The agreement with the Directorate General of Special Education focuses on supporting inclusive education by training up to 200 faculty members, therapists, and multidisciplinary professionals. The initiative is expected to directly benefit around 2,000 children with special needs through the development of inclusive learning materials and the establishment of dedicated resource rooms.

Speaking at the ceremony, Secretary MoFEPT Nadeem Mahbub welcomed the partnership and highlighted the vital role of public-private collaboration in improving children’s health, well-being, and educational outcomes. He said such initiatives help create healthier learning environments while equipping students with knowledge and habits that contribute to lifelong well-being.

Head of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability at Nestlé Pakistan Sheikh Waqar Ahmad said the partnerships demonstrate a shared commitment to enhancing children’s health through education. He noted that by working closely with public institutions, teachers can be empowered with the tools to inspire healthier choices among students and create a lasting positive impact for future generations.
