The Higher Education Commission (HEC), in collaboration with China Media Group (CMG), commemorated 75 years of Pakistan-China diplomatic relations with the China-Pakistan Youth Forum, “Echo: Youth in Action,” bringing together policymakers, academics, students, alumni and representatives of the Chinese media organisation.
Minister of State for Federal Education and Professional Training (MoFEPT) Wajiha Qamar said the next chapter of Pakistan-China relations should be shaped through education, skills development, research, science and technology, with young people playing a central role in strengthening bilateral ties.
She emphasised the importance of empowering the younger generation with knowledge, skills and opportunities to contribute to the future of both countries, noting that youth engagement can further deepen the longstanding relationship between Pakistan and China.
HEC Chairman Dr Niaz Ahmad Akhtar highlighted the potential for expanding cooperation between Pakistani and Chinese universities through academic exchanges, joint research initiatives and increased opportunities for Pakistani students to pursue higher education in China.
He said stronger university-to-university collaboration could create new avenues for knowledge sharing, innovation and capacity building while further strengthening educational and people-to-people links between the two countries.
Executive Director HEC Dr Zia ul Haq, Cultural Counsellor at the Embassy of China Cheng Peng, academics, students, CMG representatives and alumni also participated in the forum.
The event featured CMG’s documentary “Echo,” along with alumni experiences and discussions focusing on youth and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). The sessions provided a platform for participants to reflect on the role of young people in advancing bilateral cooperation and creating new opportunities for collaboration.

The forum reaffirmed education, cultural exchange and people-to-people connectivity as important bridges between Pakistan and China, while highlighting the potential of youth to drive the next phase of the two countries’ longstanding partnership.
