IBA Celebrates Alumni Achievements at Annual Awards Ceremony

The Institute of Business Administration (IBA) Karachi, held its much-anticipated IBA Alumni Excellence Awards, honoring nine distinguished alumni for their remarkable contributions across various professional fields. Hosted at IBA’s main campus, the event brought together over 650 attendees, including alumni and prominent representatives from 430 leading organizations.

The ceremony highlighted the success stories of alumni who have made significant impacts in industries such as corporate banking, entrepreneurship, media, philanthropy, sports, and the arts. The awards celebrated alumni whose professional excellence and community contributions have helped shape both Pakistan and the global stage.

The event commenced with a welcome address by Ms Malahat Awan, IBA’s Director of Alumni Affairs & Resource Mobilization, who acknowledged the achievements of the awardees and welcomed the esteemed gathering. Mr Mohammad Sohail, the Alumni Representative on IBA’s Board of Governors, underscored the institution’s ongoing efforts to deepen alumni engagement and support.

Among the awardees recognized for their accomplishments were:

– Ms Farkhanda Jabeen, National Sports Director, Special Olympics Pakistan (Class of 2014)
– Mr Tabish Hashmi, Digital Media Influencer, Standup Comedian, and Host (Class of 2012)
– Mr Ali Allawala, Co-Founder & CEO, Karachi Down Syndrome Program (Class of 2007)
– Mr Amir Paracha, CEO, Unilever Pakistan Ltd. (Class of 1996)
– Ms Hafsa Shamsie, Managing Director, Roche Pakistan (Class of 1992)
– Mr Muhammad Ali, CEO, MAGM Ventures Pvt. Ltd. (Class of 1990)
– Mr Mohsin Ali Nathani, Regional CEO, Habib Bank AG Zurich (Class of 1987)
– Mr Sardar Abdul Rahim, Founder, Bar. B. Q Tonight (Class of 1978)
– Mr Shahid Hashmi, Managing Partner, Pure Foods Management, USA (Class of 1971)

These individuals, selected for their excellence and pioneering spirit, exemplify the impact of IBA graduates on both a national and international scale.

Distinguished guests in attendance included business leaders such as Mr Aqeel Karim Dhedhi, Chairman of AKD Group; Mr Sulaiman Shahabuddin, President of Aga Khan University; Mr Ruhail Muhammad, CEO of Lucky Electric Power Co.; Mr Shabbir Diwan, CEO of Gatron Industries Ltd.; and Mr Mohammad Zubair, former Governor of Sindh.

The ceremony concluded with closing remarks from Dr Abdullah Sheikh, Dean of IBA-SBS, who commended the achievements of the awardees and expressed gratitude to the event sponsors, including Pakistan State Oil, K-Electric, Mari Petroleum Company Ltd., English Biscuit Manufacturer, and RG Blue Communications. The evening wrapped up with a networking dinner, allowing alumni and guests to reconnect and celebrate a legacy of success and leadership.

The IBA Alumni Excellence Awards not only highlighted the institution’s commitment to fostering leadership but also served as an inspiration for the next generation of IBA students and graduates.
