Pakistan and the United States have renewed their commitment to strengthening higher education cooperation with the signing of a five-year agreement aimed at expanding educational exchange programmes, including the prestigious Fulbright Scholarship Programme.
The agreement was signed at the headquarters of the United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP) in Islamabad by USEFP Executive Director Dr. Peter Moran and Higher Education Commission (HEC) Executive Director Prof. Dr. Zia Ul Haq.
Minister of State for Federal Education and Professional Training Ms. Wajiha Qamar attended the signing ceremony alongside representatives of the U.S. Embassy, members of the USEFP Board and senior HEC officials, including Director General Human Resource Development Ms. Ayesha Ikram.
The agreement provides a renewed framework for Pakistan-U.S. collaboration in higher education and educational exchanges over the next five years. A key component of the partnership is continued support for the Fulbright Scholarship Programme, which enables Pakistani scholars and students to pursue advanced academic and research opportunities in the United States.
Officials said the partnership reflects a shared commitment by Pakistan and the United States to using higher education as a driver of economic prosperity, security, scientific advancement and technological progress.
The expanded cooperation is also expected to contribute to the development of future leaders, researchers and professionals by creating greater opportunities for academic exchange, knowledge sharing and international collaboration.
