The University of Management and Technology (UMT) and the Embassy of the State of Palestine have agreed to strengthen academic, research and institutional collaboration, reaffirming their shared commitment to expanding educational opportunities and fostering closer ties between Pakistan and Palestine.
The understanding was reached during a visit by His Excellency Dr Zuhair Mohammad Hamadallah Zaid, Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Pakistan, to UMT, where he met with Chairman and President UMT, Ibrahim Hasan Murad. The discussions focused on enhancing higher education cooperation through joint research initiatives, faculty and student exchange programmes, institutional partnerships and broader academic collaboration.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening the longstanding brotherly relationship between Pakistan and Palestine by promoting educational cooperation and creating new opportunities for Palestinian students.
Speaking on the occasion, Ibrahim Hasan Murad reiterated UMT’s unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to supporting quality education, research and academic development in Palestine. He said UMT would continue to play an active role in promoting educational initiatives that contribute to the country’s progress and capacity building.
He described education as a powerful bridge between nations, capable of fostering mutual understanding, sustainable peace and shared prosperity through knowledge exchange and academic engagement.
Ambassador Dr Zuhair Mohammad Hamadallah Zaid praised UMT for its academic excellence, impactful research, international partnerships and innovation-driven learning environment. He appreciated the university’s efforts to prepare future-ready leaders and said institutions like UMT are making an important contribution to building knowledge-based societies and nurturing visionary leadership.
During the visit, the ambassador also participated in UMT’s tree plantation campaign by planting a sapling, symbolising the shared commitment of Pakistan and Palestine to environmental sustainability, peace, friendship and a greener future.

The visit concluded with Chairman and President UMT Ibrahim Hasan Murad presenting a commemorative souvenir to Ambassador Dr Zuhair Mohammad Hamadallah Zaid, marking the occasion and reaffirming the commitment to stronger educational and institutional cooperation between the two sides.
