Sargodha University hosts 7th International Zoology Conference

The University of Sargodha (UoS), in collaboration with the Applied Zoological Society of Pakistan, inaugurated the 7th International Conference on Applied Zoology under the theme “Application of Applied Zoological Sciences to Nurture Climate and Sustainable Development.”

The conference aims to bring together academics, researchers, and experts to explore how zoological sciences can contribute to addressing climate change challenges and fostering sustainable development.

The opening ceremony was attended by several high-profile figures, including Prof Dr Mukhtar Ahmed, Chairman of the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Prof Dr Qaisar Abbas, Vice Chancellor of UoS, Prof Dr Muhammad Ali Shah, Vice Chancellor of Punjab University (PU), and Prof Dr Syed Habib Bukhari, Vice Chancellor of Kohsar University, Murree (KUM).

Pro Vice Chancellor of UoS, Prof Dr Mian Ghulam Yasin, Dean of the Faculty of Sciences Prof Dr Amir Ali, and representatives from the Applied Zoological Society of Pakistan were also present at the event.

In his welcome address, Prof Dr Qaisar Abbas emphasized the institution’s commitment to fostering research and academic collaboration. “We are dedicated to advancing research that not only enhances knowledge but also contributes to practical solutions for real-world issues,” he said.

Prof Dr Muhammad Ali Shah encouraged students and researchers to focus on personal development while remaining committed to national service. “This is your moment to develop the skills and expertise needed to lead in a world grappling with unprecedented challenges,” he remarked, stressing the importance of building individual capacities to address sustainability challenges effectively.

Prof Dr Mukhtar Ahmed, urged scholars to ensure that their research has tangible societal impact. “Our work must extend beyond academic journals. It must translate into real solutions that enhance lives and promote the nation’s progress,” he stated.

With over 300 research papers scheduled for presentation, the conference offers a platform for scholars to exchange knowledge, discuss innovative ideas, and explore practical solutions. The gathering aims to demonstrate how applied zoology can play a critical role in building climate resilience and achieving sustainable development goals.

The event will continue over the next few days, fostering discussions that will drive forward scientific progress in this vital field.

By engaging participants from various academic and professional backgrounds, the conference is set to make a meaningful contribution to both national and global conversations on environmental sustainability.
