The University of Management and Technology (UMT) marked Punjab Government’s “Minorities Week” with a special seminar that celebrated interfaith harmony while honoring the Pakistan Army’s role in defending the nation. Provincial Minister for Minority Affairs Ramesh Singh Arora attended as chief guest, alongside UMT President Ibrahim Hasan Murad, Rector Dr Asif Raza, Secretary for Human Rights Fareed Ahmed Tarar, and members of the minority community.
The event began with a solidarity walk where students and faculty held banners declaring “Long Live Pakistan” and “Long Live Pakistan Army,” echoing chants of patriotism. Addressing the audience, Fareed Ahmed Tarar emphasized education and skill development as the foundation for national progress, urging targeted efforts to equip minority youth with opportunities for leadership and employment.
Ramesh Singh Arora highlighted that 15 minority students are currently preparing for high-level examinations at the Civil Services Academy, expressing confidence that they will soon make the nation proud. He praised UMT’s scholarship support for minority students, noting its role in promoting equality and interfaith understanding.
Ibrahim Hasan Murad reaffirmed UMT’s mission to ensure equal educational opportunities for all, stressing that public policy reforms and intercultural leadership are vital for bridging societal divides. Dr Asif Raza added that UMT awards billions of rupees annually in scholarships, ensuring that financial barriers do not hinder talent.

A panel discussion featuring Dr Ayra Patras, Dr Mimpal Singh, and Dr Sami Ullah explored strategies to empower minority youth. The seminar concluded with souvenirs presented to distinguished guests, symbolizing a shared commitment to unity, education, and national pride.
