JI Launches Free Books Drive in Karachi

Jamaat-e-Islami has launched its “Parho Parhao Campaign” in Gulistan-e-Jauhar, aiming to expand access to education by distributing free textbooks to families across the locality until April 25.

The campaign was inaugurated in Block 1 by JI Karachi Chief Monem Zafar Khan, who also reopened the newly restored Fatima Surayya Bajia Park. The dual initiative combines educational support with improved public recreational facilities, signaling a broader community-focused approach.

Under the drive, parents from Blocks 1 to 15 can collect free books for their children from Grade 1 up to matriculation, easing the financial burden on households amid rising educational costs.

Addressing the ceremony, Monem Zafar emphasized the central role of education in national development, stating that no society can achieve self-reliance without ensuring quality learning opportunities for its younger generation. He said the campaign reflects JI’s wider vision of educational reform in Karachi.

The party is simultaneously advancing its Bano Qabil Program, which focuses on equipping youth with modern IT skills. According to Monem Zafar, more than 450,000 students have registered under the initiative, with over 50,000 completing free IT courses and entering the workforce to support their families.

He added that the participation of 45,000 students in a recent aptitude test highlights a growing enthusiasm among Karachi’s youth to pursue education and career development. “These are not just numbers,” he said. “They reflect a changing trajectory for the city and the determination of its young people to build a better future.”
