BIEK Intermediate Chemistry Paper Leaks on Social Media

The credibility of Karachi’s Board of Intermediate Education (BIEK) has once again come under fire after the Chemistry exam paper was leaked on WhatsApp just 15 minutes before the test began, according to 24NewsHD TV Channel.

This latest breach is part of a disturbing pattern. Over recent years, leaked papers — including for 9th and 10th-grade annual exams — have repeatedly surfaced on social media moments before the exams were scheduled to start. Despite widespread outrage from students, parents, and educators, local authorities have struggled to implement effective measures to prevent such leaks.

This isn’t the first time the issue has made headlines. On April 24, 2015, the Islamic Studies paper for the science group was also leaked via WhatsApp just minutes before the exam, causing an uproar. However, a decade later, the same problems persist, with no significant reforms or accountability from the BIEK.

Education experts warn that the ongoing leaks are eroding the trust in the city’s examination system, unfairly disadvantaging hardworking students and tarnishing the board’s reputation.

Parents and students are now demanding urgent reforms, stricter security protocols, and swift action against those responsible for compromising the integrity of the exams. Without decisive intervention, they fear Karachi’s academic standards will continue to deteriorate.
