In a major initiative to promote women’s access to higher education, Forman Christian College (FCCU) and the School Education Department, Government of Balochistan, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to provide fully funded scholarships to talented female students from across Balochistan.
The agreement was signed during a ceremony held at FCCU on July 24, 2026, marking a significant milestone in expanding higher education opportunities for young women from underserved communities in all districts of the province.
Under the initiative, which is funded by the World Bank, between 30 and 50 outstanding female students from Balochistan will receive fully funded scholarships for higher education at FCCU. The program also includes guaranteed employment opportunities for successful graduates, offering a comprehensive pathway from education to professional careers.
The MoU signing ceremony was attended by Balochistan’s Minister for School Education, Madam Raheela Hameed Khan Durrani, along with senior government officials, including Secretary Education Lal Jan Jaffar, Special Secretary Finance Arif Achakzai, Project Director PMU-BESP Hafiz Muhammad Qasim, Teacher Development Specialist Atique Rehman, and Senior Project Officer PMU-BESP Rommel Khan.
Representing FCCU, Rector Dr. Jonathan S. Addleton and members of the university’s senior leadership welcomed the delegation and reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to providing quality education to deserving students from across Pakistan.
The scholarship program is being implemented under the Balochistan Education Support Project (BESP-GRADES) and is designed to empower talented young women through access to world-class higher education while improving their employment prospects.
Speaking on the occasion, representatives from both sides emphasized that the partnership reflects a shared commitment to increasing educational opportunities for women, reducing regional disparities in higher education, and strengthening the socio-economic development of Balochistan through investment in human capital.
