Independence Day 2025 at UAJK was marked with vibrant celebrations and a renewed pledge to uphold national unity and the Kashmir cause. The University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (UAJK) organized a series of events at its main campus, bringing together faculty, staff, and students in a show of patriotism and solidarity.
The day began with the hoisting of the national and state flags at the Administration Block by Registrar Prof Dr Saadat Hanif Dar, Controller of Examinations Prof Dr Wajid Aziz Lone, and Director Finance Prof Dr Muhammad Basharat. Attendees offered special prayers for Pakistan’s stability, peace, and prosperity, as well as for the freedom of the people of Indian-Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
The main programme of Independence Day 2025 at UAJK featured patriotic songs, speeches, and a symbolic cake-cutting ceremony. Chief Guest Midhat Shehzad, Additional Chief Secretary (General), described freedom as “a great blessing from Allah Almighty” and emphasized the responsibility that comes with it. Drawing a contrast between life in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and the struggles faced in Indian-Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, she urged citizens to work tirelessly for the country’s progress. Calling UAJK her “second home,” she pledged her continued support to the university even after her retirement.
Meritorious Professor Dr Syed Nadeem Haider Bukhari, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, called freedom the greatest blessing for humankind and lauded Pakistan’s armed forces for their role in defending the nation. He noted that despite India’s setbacks in war, diplomacy, and regional influence, Pakistan has remained resilient and steadfast.
Registrar Prof Dr Saadat Hanif Dar, in his opening remarks, paid tribute to the sacrifices of the nation’s forefathers and reminded everyone of their duty to contribute to national development. He praised the unmatched valor of the armed forces during historic battles and their role in safeguarding Pakistan’s sovereignty.

Independence Day 2025 at UAJK concluded with a cake-cutting ceremony, moderated by Additional Registrar Sardar Zaffar Iqbal, symbolizing unity, resilience, and shared aspirations for a peaceful and prosperous Pakistan.
