PU Lecturer Wins International Research Honour in Spain

A Pakistani academic has brought international recognition to the country after receiving an Honourable Mention Award at the prestigious 4th EELISA Scientific Student Competition held at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM) in Spain.

Mr Hafiz Fawad Ali, a lecturer at Hailey College of Commerce, Punjab University, represented Pakistan at the international research competition, where his research contribution earned special recognition among participants from leading European universities.

The competition attracted more than 150 students and researchers who presented innovative projects across five major disciplines: Engineering, Architecture, Natural Sciences, Economics, and Social Sciences. Participants spent several months developing their research under the supervision of experienced academics before undergoing a rigorous evaluation process for selection.

In addition to receiving the Honourable Mention Award, Mr. Ali was also granted the EELISA Travel Grant, a competitive distinction awarded to participants demonstrating exceptional academic performance and strong research potential. The grant supported his participation in the event and acknowledged the quality and impact of his research work.

The competition featured two days of research presentations, expert assessments, and interdisciplinary discussions at ETS Ingenieros Industriales, UPM. The most outstanding research contributions were recognized during the event’s awards ceremony, where Mr. Ali’s work received international appreciation.

His achievement is being viewed as a significant milestone for Pakistan’s higher education sector and a testament to the growing presence of Pakistani scholars on global academic platforms. The recognition also highlights the quality of research being produced at Hailey College of Commerce and the University of the Punjab.

The EELISA Scientific Student Competition offers participants an opportunity to gain international research experience, engage with global scientific communities, and build academic collaborations across borders.
