Sargodha University Ignites Digital Innovation with Cisco

The University of Sargodha reaffirmed its commitment to digital innovation and industry-academia collaboration by hosting a seminar on the “Latest ICT Trends and Cisco NetAcad,” organized by the Directorate of Information Technology. The event spotlighted global technology trends and the rising value of Cisco certifications in shaping future-ready graduates.

Faheem Anwar, Country Manager of Cisco Networking Academy, delivered the keynote address, underscoring the growing demand for technically skilled professionals. He emphasized the transformative potential of certifications like CCNA and CCNP in Enterprise, Security, and Wireless domains, especially for students in Computer Science, IT, and Software Engineering.

The seminar also featured remarks by Prof Dr Muhammad Ilyas, Dean of the Faculty of Information Technology, and Director IT Ishtiaq Ahmad Gondal. Following the session, Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Qaisar Abbas met with Cisco representatives to explore the establishment of a Cisco Networking Academy at the university. Dr Abbas noted that aligning academic training with global IT standards would significantly enhance students’ technical skills and boost their employment prospects worldwide.

Gondal extended gratitude to the Cisco delegation and reiterated the university’s vision of nurturing talent through strong academic-industry partnerships that drive innovation and excellence.

In a parallel initiative, the Department of Software Engineering showcased final year projects developed using emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and Deep Learning (DL). Students presented practical solutions across fields like disease detection in healthcare, smart agriculture systems, AI-driven e-commerce tools, and intelligent chatbots.

Dean Dr Muhammad Ilyas inaugurated the exhibition and commended the students’ ability to tackle real-world challenges using advanced digital tools. He emphasized that such platforms are crucial for fostering innovation and preparing students for future industry demands.

Chairman Dr Muhammad Summair Raza praised the creativity and technical depth of the projects, highlighting that the showcase reflected the university’s unwavering focus on research, relevance, and modern technological integration in education.
