Sindh Announces 20000 Google Scholarships

The Sindh government has launched a landmark digital education initiative by introducing Pakistan’s first Google Gemini for Education Corner at NED University while announcing 20,000 Google Career Certificate scholarships for students enrolled in public-sector universities across the province.

The initiative, developed in collaboration with Google and Tech Valley Pakistan, is designed to prepare students for the rapidly evolving digital economy by providing access to internationally recognized certifications and advanced artificial intelligence learning tools.

Under the scholarship program, students will be able to earn Google Career Certificates in high-demand fields such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data analytics, digital marketing, UX design, project management, e-commerce, and IT support. The certifications are intended to strengthen graduates’ employability by equipping them with practical, industry-relevant skills sought by employers worldwide.

The newly established Google Gemini for Education Corner at NED University will serve as a dedicated hub where students, educators, and researchers can explore AI-powered educational resources, collaborate on innovative projects, and enhance teaching and learning through advanced technology.

To formalize the partnership, the Sindh government, the Sindh Higher Education Commission, and Tech Valley Pakistan signed a memorandum of understanding, reinforcing their shared commitment to expanding digital education and workforce development across the province.

Ahead of the official launch, more than 40 cabinet members and senior government officials participated in a specialized artificial intelligence training workshop conducted by Google experts. The workshop focused on the practical use of AI in governance and public service, reflecting the government’s broader strategy to integrate emerging technologies into policymaking and administrative functions.

Speaking at the event, Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah emphasized that artificial intelligence should be used to strengthen human decision-making rather than replace it. He noted that despite financial constraints and ongoing energy challenges, Sindh remains committed to investing in technology, innovation, and digital skills to prepare its youth for future employment opportunities.
