1. Shah Allah Ditta Caves
Shah Allah Ditta Caves is surely one of the best places to visit in Islamabad. It is a historical place which is located at the foothills of Margalla Hills. The village located near the cave is said to be 700 years old and served as a route connecting Gandharan city and Kabul. However, some historians claim that the caves are around 2400 years old.
2. Rawal lake view park
Rawal lake is located near the Margalla Hills side, in the Bani Gala area. Rawal lake is basically an artificial reservoir that can meet the water needs of Islamabad and Rawalpindi. The lake covers an area of 8.5 square feet which is surrounded by gardens and secluded tracks. There are also huge terrace gardens, ponds, rock climbing, F1 racing, fishing and boating. It is an ideal spot for school picnics and trips.
3. Faisal Mosque
Faisal Mosque is one of the largest mosques in Pakistan. The mosque was named after Shah Faisal bin Abdul Aziz, the king of Saudi Arabia. The mosque is located at the foot of Margalla Hills, and it has the best panoramic views. Thousands of people visit the mosque daily.
4. Lok Virsa Museum
Lok Virsa is the one of the best cultural museums in Pakistan. The museum was formerly known as the Folklore Museum. It showcases a variety of metal products, wood products, jewelry, embroidered clothing, pottery, sculptures, mirror works, ivory, bones, music, mosaics and much more. The museum is an epitome of the history and culture of Pakistan.
5. Daman e Koh
Damn e Koh is situated in the middle of the Margalla Hills. It has the most breathtaking views of Islamabad and due to the climatic reasons, it is one of the most visited places throughout the year. It is a good place for school picnics.
6. Taxila Museum
The Taxila museum is one of the oldest museums in the Taxila region which has numerous important archaeological sites. Taxila museum has around 4,000 exhibits which include clay, silver, gold, iron, concrete and semi-precious stones.
7. Pakistan Monument
The Pakistan Monument is in Shakar Parian Hills. It provides an insight into the country’s history and an understanding of the Pakistan movement. The monument symbolizes national unity and is dedicated for the people of Pakistan who sacrificed their “today” for a better “tomorrow.” The monument is divided into two sections, one of the ends stands as a giant memorial shaped like the petals of a flower, which depicts the historical events that led to the creation of our nation. While the other, Pakistan Monument Museum, which houses the only wax museum in Islamabad is situated on the other end.
