How to study in Germany and get a degree?

Germany is one of the most popular destinations when it comes to the accessibility and quality of education. Yes, it is true that education in Germany is free. Moreover, the job market for students is also good and they manage to make a living through it. The universities in Germany are relatively more accessible for the international community but taking admission is not very easy. It is a tiring and complicated process. However, by following the right direction you can surely get through it. Here is what you need to do to study in Germany for free.

Search for the universities

The first thing to do when looking for an international university is to invest some time in searching for universities. Start doing it from today because it is not as easy as it sounds. Most of the universities in Germany are free but there are also some private institutes that demand a lot of fees. Search for the universities that offer free education. Now, not every university will suit you for many reasons. First of all, it might not be at the place that you want to go. Secondly, it might not be at a good place in the ranking list. Third, it might not be offering the desired courses. Fourth, it might not be offering your required course in English, and fifth, it might have some requirements or criteria that you cannot fulfill. So, searching for the right university is not very simple. You will have to invest a lot of time in it. Give at least two hours every day to this task of yours.

List down the English-taught programs

Once you are done searching for the right universities, you have to list down the English-taught programs according to your priority. You have to apply to at least more than two programs. If you have a very good academic record and are confident about it, two programs would be enough. So, list them in such an order that you know how much effort you have to make for each of them. The preference may be according to the area, the value of the program, or the ranking of the university. This is what you have to decide. But there is one thing you should be careful about. Choose at least one university where you know the chances of your admission are maximum.

Apply and look for some scholarships

Now comes the applying process. That will literally be a toll-taking experience. Don’t get afraid. All you have to do is be composed and efficient. Select as many universities as you can apply to. Applying to three programs with all your effort is better than filling five applications that do not completely explain your potential. Once you have applied, start looking for the scholarships that are offered by that university or the program. Though your education will be free, you can avail of some scholarships to manage your expenses. However, if you don’t get scholarships, you can start doing some jobs after getting there.

Additional tips

Germany is a great country if you want to work and earn there. But there always is a language barrier that students face after going there. If you have time, I would recommend learning the German language. This will help you not only in getting admission on scholarships but also getting a good job there. You have to give English language tests, too but in the case that you know German, that might be exempted too. Moreover, take care of your score in all the tests and CGPA if you want to be considered for a scholarship.
