Two police officials in Lahore have been arrested after allegedly assaulting and robbing a university student, an incident that has fueled public outrage and raised concerns about misconduct within the force.
The incident took place in the Tibbi City area, where Saifuddin, a university student, was shopping in Khussa Bazaar. According to reports, he was stopped by two policemen identified as Afzal and Nabeel. The officers allegedly took him to a deserted street, physically assaulted him, and threatened to implicate him in a false criminal case if he resisted. They then reportedly snatched Rs. 53,000 from him before fleeing.
Saifuddin promptly lodged a complaint at the local police station, after which Tibbi City Police registered a case under Section 155-C against the accused officials. Both officers were immediately taken into custody.
