The Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) is set to conduct O Level and A Level examinations starting on April 25 and concluding on June 13. Around 100,000 students from different parts of Pakistan are expected to participate in the May/June 2024 examination session, including over 40,000 candidates from Karachi and an additional 15,000 private candidates from across the nation.

Of note, approximately 6,000 students from Karachi have chosen to undertake the Cambridge exams independently. To ensure the smooth administration of examinations, nearly 100 examination centers have been established nationwide, with roughly 20 centers located in Karachi to accommodate the large number of candidates.

Exploring the academic preferences of Pakistani students within the Cambridge O Level and A Level curricula reveals certain subjects that consistently attract significant interest and participation. O Level candidates commonly favor subjects like Pakistan Studies, Islamiat, mathematics, English, and Urdu. On the other hand, A Level students tend to gravitate towards subjects such as physics, mathematics, business, chemistry, and computer science, reflecting their diverse academic interests and career aspirations.

With approximately 800 schools across Pakistan affiliated with the Cambridge curriculum, students have access to a globally recognized standard of education. Karachi, in particular, boasts a substantial presence within this network, with around 200 schools dedicated to providing comprehensive Cambridge education to aspiring learners.

O Levels and A Levels, administered by Cambridge Assessment International Education, are internationally recognized qualifications typically taken by students in their final years of high school. O Levels, akin to the GCSEs in the UK, cover a broad range of subjects and are typically taken at age 16, while A Levels, taken at a more advanced level around age 18, allow students to specialize in fewer subjects of their choice.
