Aligarh Muslim University Old Boys’ Association (AMUOBA) organized an Eid Milan reception at Sir Syed Tower that was attended by the former Chancellor of Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology Adil Usman, former Vice-Chancellor Commodore (R) Saleem Siddiqui, present Vice-Chancellor of Sir Syed University Prof. Dr. Vali Uddin, Registrar Syed Sarfraz Ali, BOG Member Hakim Abdul Hannan and others.
Highlighting the importance of celebrating Eid in the spirit of brotherhood, Chancellor Jawaid Anwar said that the month-long fasting ends with the festival of Eid-ul-Fitr which symbolizes a reward for their fasting and self-restraint. It is a day of forgiveness and charity and the day is also meant to bring peace and conciliation.
Talking about Alumni, he said that Alumni are an asset to the university. Their bonding with the university is natural. They always look for the opportunity to play an effective role in the development of their Alma Mater. He announced to hold an event soon in the honor of the Alumni.
Chancellor Jawaid Anwar pointed out that the construction work of Sir Syed Mosque has started in the new campus of Sir Syed University located on 200 acres of land in Education City۔ The mosque covers an area of 50,000 square feet and has the capacity to accommodate about 2,000 worshipers. With three domes and two minarets, the mosque will be a masterpiece of Mughal architecture.
Presenting vote of thanks, Honorary Secretary General of the AMUOBA, Engr. Muhammad Arshad Khan said that the happiness is the spiritual experience of living every minute with love, grace and gratitude. Magic of Eid brings lots of happiness and blessings of Allah in our life because of the divine experience we extract from fasting and self-restraint.
A poetry session followed by AMUOBA Eid Milan reception was also held and the famous poets Saeed Agha, Alauddin Hamdam Khanzada and Waleed presented their humorous poetry and received accolades from the audience. Ms. Noshaba Siddiqui, Convener of the Literary Arts and Culture Forum and Editor of the Monthly Tehzeeb, conducted the event beautifully.
