Just a year prior, the country was shaken by violent demonstrations and riots, particularly in the military stronghold, where agitated crowds wreaked havoc on both private and public properties, including military installations.

The Punjab University (PU) Literary Society has once again showcased its prowess in the realm of poetry by securing top honors at the prestigious ‘Majlis-e-Mubahasa’ All-Pakistan Faiz Ahmed Faiz Poetry Competition 2024. Held at Government College University (GCU) Lahore, the competition witnessed an impressive display of poetic talent from across the country, with Punjab University emerging as a frontrunner.

Imtiaz Anjum, a standout talent from the Punjab University Literary Society, clinched the coveted first position in Urdu Ghazal, captivating the audience with his evocative verses and lyrical prowess. Meanwhile, Hadia Khalid earned accolades by securing the second position in Urdu Poem, showcasing her adeptness in weaving narratives through poetry.

Additionally, Ilyas Abbas Sanwal and Asif Mahmood Asif demonstrated their skill in the art of Bait Bazi by securing the second position in this challenging category.

The University of Management and Technology (UMT) Lahore’s School of Media and Communication Studies (SMCS) has conferred the title of ‘Professor of Practice’ on renowned journalist and analyst Sohail Warraich at a ceremony on Friday.

Earlier, Dr. Anjum Zia, Dean School of Media and Communication Studies, welcomed the guests and highlighted that UMT’s media school has the honor of being the first school to confer the title of ‘Professor of Practice.’ She explained that a Professor of Practice is an individual who possesses both academic and professional expertise. “We are fortunate to have senior journalist, analyst, and author Sohail Warraich as UMT’s Professor of Practice,” she said. “From today onwards, Mr. Warraich will be an integral part of UMT’s School of Media.”

TNS Beaconhouse, in partnership with the Institute of Architects of Pakistan (IAP), recently hosted an event called “Blueprint for Learning: Bridging Design and Pedagogy” at the newly opened TNS Beaconhouse Gulberg campus.
