In a landmark event for scientific research and education in Gilgit-Baltistan, the Research Laboratory on Natural Products was officially inaugurated at Karakoram International University (KIU). The ceremony was graced by the presence of the esteemed Prof Dr M Iqbal Choudhary, a renowned scientist, Mustafa (PBUH) Prize laureate, and former Coordinator General of COMSTECH. Dr Choudhary also serves as the Director of the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS) at the University of Karachi (UoK).

The inauguration coincided with the 1st International Conference on the Chemistry of Medicinal Plants 2024, adding further significance to the occasion. The event saw the attendance of KIU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Atta Ullah Shah, senior officials, professors, and students, all eager to witness this monumental step forward for the university.

The new laboratory represents a significant milestone in KIU’s quest for excellence in scientific research and discovery.
