The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has set January 3 as the deadline for Computer Science (CS) and Information Technology (IT) graduates to apply for a centralized test, which serves as a gateway to apprenticeships in leading IT firms in Pakistan.
This initiative, as per the HEC and collaborating partners, including the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), Ministry of IT & Telecom (MoITT), Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB), Pakistan IT Industry Association (P@SHA), and National Computing Education Accreditation Council (NCEAC), aims to bridge the gap between academia and the IT industry. The test is designed for 7th-semester students in CS and related fields and will be conducted through the Virtual University Platform.
This program is part of a larger effort to integrate academic learning with industry experience, thereby enhancing job prospects for IT students in both local and international markets.
The students enrolled in the 7th semester of Computer Science/IT related disciplines offered in recognised public and private sector universities and affiliated / constituent colleges are encouraged to register through Virtual University (VU).
Registrations for the test close on January 3, with the examination scheduled for January 7. Eligibility is limited to students currently in their 7th semester of BS/BE Computing or similar disciplines.
Applications must be submitted through the designated portal, focusing on areas such as Operating Systems, Software Engineering, Data Structures, Networking, Programming, Databases, and Problem Solving/Analytics.
An HEC spokesperson emphasized the importance of this opportunity for students to secure apprenticeships with top IT companies in Pakistan, through the HEC Centralized Test for CS & IT graduates.
